Our mission is to help and support vulnerable demographics of people, especially low-income families and single-mother households.
How? You ask. We answer, in three main areas listed below.
Tutoring Without Borders.
Ever since the March of 2020, we’ve tutored students from across America, China, and Mexico. We aim to alleviate the burdens placed on financially disadvantaged families and single-parent households by providing their children the opportunity of costless tutoring in an era that places so much emphasis on outside-of-school education.
Cultural Exchange.
Instead of reactionary solutions to social justice issues, we seek to implement preventative measures of cultural education within our community. Bringing together students of color and other residents of San Diego, GMC facilitates open and safe conversations about race, gender, and culture by educating against stigmas, ignorance, and stereotyping through in-person workshops.
Teamork & Justice.
In a time of such unprecedented isolation and uncertainty, it is important for everyone’s voice to be heard. From the rise of anti-Asian hate to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, recent years have shown us all that such social issues still need our collective strength and pushback. As the Global Milestone Club, we aspire to be a part of that collaborative voice in support of vulnerability and justice.

We are so thankful for all of you and the help our club has received from our peers, parents, and teachers. We hope to continue our missions of cultural exchange and through that, rebuild the many in-person connections our communities have lost during the pandemic!

100+ Families Helped
At one of our cultural workshops, in addition to our fifteen volunteers, we are thankful to have hosted many participants and received encouraging feedback from all. One mother of two toddlers even commented, “I feel like we had just traveled around the world! This was a great opportunity to truly experience something we had lost during the pandemic.”

Because of the pandemic, our lives throughout the past few years have fostered an unprecedented sense of disconnection and isolation from our world beyond our doorsteps; especially inspired by this phenomenon, members of Global Milestone and Teen Council sought to provide an open space for international discussion and connection, allowing students to share their diverse backgrounds and La Jolla residents to learn more about the beautiful cultures within our local community.

900+ Classes Taught
T-3 weeks until our next semester begins! GMC is so excited to teach 48 students in our core classes and 55 in our extracurriculars: Spanish, public speaking, and Python programming. All of the GMC tutors have been working hard, preparing for the 41 classes they will be teaching these coming months. Earlier this month, the GMC leadership team hosted their third virtual open house (woohoo!), where many interested families learned more about the GMC and our mission. Good work, everyone!
